Quaranta Giorni e Cuarenta Noches
Carolina Correa’s Migrant Series of oil paintings with a palette knife on canvas help tell the story of Italians who migrated to Argentina. She wanted to share her art and her experience of having a family history where one leaves their entire life behind to cross an ocean in hope for a better future. Each of the subjects followed a similar journey but they all had different experiences and made different lives for themselves. The main piece is a relative of the artist, Domenico Vitulano, and helps tell the story of her lineage. The migrants traveled for 40 days and 40 nights between countries that spoke two different languages.
