This exhibition by Dome Bulfaro is a series of watercolor and poetic works that act as a bridge between nature, the human body, and soul. The work brings together oceanic and vegetative imagery through visual and linguistic cues to guide the viewer through a meditative journey. Bulfaro emphasizes the therapeutic power of art to spark joy and wonder that chase out darkness, “like a flame.”
In order to organize this exhibit, Bulfaro worked in collaboration with Florence University of the Arts-The American University of Florence’ Gallery and Exhibition curation students as well as FUA-AUF’s administrative and communications departments. This immersive project allows FUA-AUF students to learn a new aspect of Italian Art & Culture and engage with the community, as its mission intends. Bulfaro was thrilled to work with students at FUA-AUF to share his philosophy with younger generations.
Waveform aesthetics and reflective elements merge to inspire connections between poetry, painting, and ourselves. Linguistic relationships such as the “root of the nose”, “plant of the foot”, and “trunk of the body” support the interaction between the physical and conceptual. Bulfaro’s visual art brings out a latent ecstasy, while his poetry is more dramatic and intense, fully encompassing the complexity of human experience. Similarly, art takes a cross section of the trunk of life in a snapshot “like the rings of a tree.” “The art creates a window to the words”, states Dome. We invite you to look through the window.
